Queens, NY — Commonpoint Queens has partnered with the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) to host New York City Civil Service 101 on August 13. This virtual information session will provide an introduction to careers in city government.
Jobseekers can learn about over 2000 distinct positions across more than 80 city agencies. Representatives from DCAS will present information on how to apply for New York City government jobs and how to become a civil servant.
The event will be held virtually Thursday, August 13 at 2:30pm via WebEx. Participants can register through the DCAS website at bit.ly/0813CS101.
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services provides value-added and effective shared services to support the operations of New York City government. They are responsible for recruiting and supporting a diverse workforce throughout City agencies, managing various City-owned buildings, and implementing energy efficiency and conservation efforts for government operations.
Commonpoint Queens’ Workforce Department offers specialized support services and resources for adults and youth. Programs include job placement assistance, vocational training, High School Equivalence and Pre-HSE classes, two digital food pantries, digital literacy classes, Summer Youth Employment and Ladders for Leaders internship programs, classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages, and health certifications. Commonpoint Queens’ new innovative employment Hub opening this September in Elmhurst will greatly expand the resources available to the community including culinary arts training, financial and legal counseling, and interest-free loan assistance.
