Hunter College High School Students Spread Kindness to Seniors

Although our senior centers have closed their doors during the pandemic, Commonpoint Queens has remained connected to our senior community. In addition to meal deliveries, phone check-ins from staff, and virtual programming, we have begun a new intergenerational volunteer program to keep seniors from feeling isolated.

Commonpoint Queens partnered with students from Hunter College High School in Manhattan to create messages of kindness for our seniors. Students were randomly matched with a member of one of our senior programs to share words of encouragement. These took the form of letters, drawings, playlists, poems, digitally designed graphics, and even musical recordings!

If you would like to create messages of kindness for seniors or volunteer with Commonpoint Queens in another way, please contact Amy Gaffney at agaffney@commonpointqueens.org.
