Dance Week – Free Programs at Central Queens!

With classes ranging from Ballet to Tap to Hip-Hop, the Commonpoint Queens Dance School provides students with quality training and education. Students can explore all aspects of dance: creativity, musicality, rhythm, grace, coordination, and more!

Mommy & Me Elements of Ballet
Ages 2-4, Sun., Jan. 5, 11:30am-12:15pm
Perfect for the child who still needs a little more time before separating from the parent or caregiver. Participation from parent/caregiver is key in the class as children learn basic dance steps and terminology through songs, stories, and play. This class will build their self-confidence to help them blossom into wonderful dancers!

Pre-Ballet
Ages 3-4 Tues., Jan. 7, 3:45-4:30pm or Fri., Jan. 10, 3:00-3:45pm
Body placement and alignment in ballet are the most important elements for every dancer in attaining balance, control, form, strength, and a beautiful line. Dancers will achieve this through barre and center floor work.

Zumba Kids

A fun and healthy program designed just for kids using the Zumba® concept. Class will also include movements taken from Hip Hop choreography for a fun, high energy, funky, dance class.

Hip-Hop
Ages 5-7, Thurs., Jan. 9, 4:00-5:00pm
Ages 8-12, Thurs., Jan. 9, 5:00-6:00pm
This class includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States

Jazz/Contemporary

Jazz dancing is a form that showcases a dancer’s originality. All jazz dancers interpret and execute moves and steps in their own way.
