The Health & Wellness Department is dedicated to the health, physical and social development of all members. Our pre-school, nursery and junior sports programs are designed to coordinate eye-hand, eye-foot, gross and fine motor and balance skills. Our adult and senior program is designed to keep those involved in shape and up-to-date on proper exercise and nutrition information.
Socialization, working at your own pace and having fun in a safe environment are the main goals of the department. Our staff is professionally trained to enhance the individual development of all who participate. We are proud to offer a well-rounded program for ALL AGES. You are never too old to exercise!
Senior Fitness
For the week of January 24, we will begin in person classes at our new Bay Terrace Older Adult Center that will also be offered virtually. Pre-registration is required by calling Elise at 718-423-6111 ext. 223.

Tai Chi – In this traditional Chinese form of exercise, basic positions are performed in a slow, continuous sequence. Unlike exercise which relies on muscular force and tension, the graceful movements of Tai Chi emphasize relaxation, straightness, and true balance.

Aerobic Dance – Fun and fitness for beginner and more experienced dancers.
*Please note Aerobic Dance is currently being offered virtually via Zoom and at Bay Terrace Thursdays at 9:15 am starting January 27 (new location)
Senior Line Dancing – Fun and fitness for beginner and more experienced dancers.
*Please note Senior Line Dance is currently being offered Tuesdays at 11:00 am virtually via Zoom and at Bay Terrace beginning January 25
Senior Yoga – Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion.
*Please note that SilverSneakers Yoga Stretch is currently being offered virtually Wednesdays at 10am via Zoom and at Bay Terrace beginning January 26
Senior Circuit – Increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Exercise equipment is provided. A chair is used for standing support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
*Please note SilverSneakers Senior Circuit is currently being offered virtually Mondays at 1:00 pm via Zoom and at Bay Terrace beginning January 24
SilverSneakers Classic – Chair assisted group exercise focuses on increasing muscular strength, endurance and range of movement to improve activities for daily living. Customized for adults 65 years or older and for individuals declared Medicare disabled. Sponsored by Oxford Medicare Advantage and Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

SilverSneakers SilverSplash Senior Swim
*Updated September 2021 – Due to COVID, Senior Swim at the Bay Club is currently paused.*
The senior swim program is a 3-day per week indoor swim program for seniors only. Open swim time is provided at the Bay Club on Bay Club Drive, Bayside, 9:30 AM -12:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, October through May. This is a SilverSneakers program or a fee based program for those who do not qualify. Please call Eileen at (718) 423-6111 for further information.
Lifeguard & WSI Certification at the Bay Terrace Center
The Bay Terrace Center has staff that are Red Cross certified instructors in Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instruction. The courses will be offered throughout the year and can be done at the Bay Terrace Pool & Tennis Center or at your site. Please call Craig Lastres at (646) 772-3784 for further information.
