The Health & Wellness Department is dedicated to the health, physical and social development of all members. Our pre-school, nursery and junior sports programs are designed to coordinate eye-hand, eye-foot, gross and fine motor and balance skills. Our adult and senior program is designed to keep those involved in shape and up-to-date on proper exercise and nutrition information.
Socialization, working at your own pace and having fun in a safe environment are the main goals of the department. Our staff is professionally trained to enhance the individual development of all who participate. We are proud to offer a well-rounded program for ALL AGES. You are never too old to exercise!
Older Adult Exercise

Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion.

Maintain joint range of motion and flexibility with gentle exercises for every part of the body. Increasing your core strength for better balance.
(*Zumba Gold) 9:00 – 9:45 AM
A Latin-dance inspired workout accessible for seniors regardless of fitness level.
(*Chair Exercise) 10:30-11:00 AM
Enjoy gentle exercise geared to increasing muscle strength and range of motion at your own pace while sitting.
(**Classic Aerobics) 1:00-1:45 PM
A variety of exercises using specially designed equipment will increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activities of daily living. A chair is available if needed
(**Senior Cardio) 9:00-9:45 AM
This aerobics class is safe, heart healthy and gentle on the joints. It includes easy to follow low impact movement, upper body strengthening, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your lifestyle.

(*Gentle Yoga) 10:15-11:15 AM
In this beginner level yoga class, you will learn the basics of yoga breathing, poses and relaxation. Each class will include chair and floor segments. Bring your own yoga mat, strap and yoga block to each class.

(*Israeli and Line Dancing) 1:15-2:45 PM
Fun and fitness for beginner and more experienced dancers. No partner required.
(**Senior Circuit) 9:00-9:45 AM
Increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Exercise equipment is provided. A chair is used for standing support, stretching and relaxation exercises.
(*Tai Chi for Arthritis) 10:00-11:00 AM
In this traditional Chinese form of exercise, basic positions are performed in a slow, continuous sequence. Unlike exercise which relies on muscular force and tension, the graceful movements of Tai Chi emphasize relaxation, straightness, and true balance.
Low-to-moderate impact exercise. Can be adapted to individual need by our skilled and certified instructors.

Chair assisted group exercise focuses on increasing muscular strength, endurance and range of movement to improve activities for daily living. Customized for adults 65 years or older and for individuals declared Medicare disabled. Sponsored by Oxford Medicare Advantage and Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield.
Monday from 6:15 to 7:15 PM – 10 week sessions – $80 for all 10 weeks
Stay in shape and have a great time at Zumba at Commonpoint Queens! We currently offer an hour long class every Monday from 6:15 to 7:15 PM. Zumba is one of the fastest growing and most popular exercise options in the country, and our classes in the past have been wildly popular. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring!
