and Athletic Center” formerly known as the Alley Pond Tennis Center
Queens, NY — Commonpoint Queens has expanded programming to include a variety of sports, fitness, and other activities at the Commonpoint Queens Tennis and Athletic Center, located at 79-20 Winchester Blvd, Queens Village, NY.
The Tennis and Athletic Center is a public indoor and outdoor seasonal facility, with 550 feet of indoor space in the winter including 10 pickleball courts, 7 championship tennis courts, and a 40 x 60 turf field. Services and programs offered include private tennis lessons, tennis programs for children and adults, pickleball, turf field space, and on site racquet stringing. The facility also contains a snack bar area, locker rooms, showers and a pro shop.
In addition to their human services – including youth education, high school and college success, older adult, workforce, and mental health services – Commonpoint Queens also operates health and wellness programs, including a gym and indoor pool at their Forest Hills location, and the Bay Terrace Pool and Athletic Center in Bayside. From the Fall through the Spring, this facility also offers a bubble with turf fields and tennis courts.
“As a meeting place for athletics, social gatherings and so much more, Alley Pond Park is one of our borough’s landmarks,” said Danielle Ellman, CEO of Commonpoint Queens. “We are thrilled to partner with the NYC Parks Department to have the opportunity to reach more of our neighbors with health and wellness initiatives, and continue to provide enriching and vital services to even more community members.”
“We are thrilled to enter into a partnership with Commonpoint Queens as our new tennis and sports concessionaire at Alley Pond Park,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue. “Commonpoint Queens has a tremendous record of providing vital public services across the borough and we welcome their arrival at Alley Pond Park. Long a popular recreational destination for Queens residents, the concession at Alley Pond Park will now include a wide variety of sports and fitness activities to complement the tennis courts, making the facility a true year-round amenity.”
“For over 60 years, Commonpoint has been an incredible community partner that has provided essential services and enriching programs for Queens residents, and I am delighted that their reach will continue to expand as the new concession holder at the Alley Pond Park Tennis Center,” said Council Member Linda Lee. “Through sports programs like tennis, pickleball, and flag football, I am confident that Commonpoint Queens will continue to uplift our neighborhoods and bring fun and interactive activities that will keep residents healthy and active year-round. Thank you Commonpoint for your continued efforts to benefit our Queens community!”
