Commonpoint Queens is proud to offer programs specifically designed to meet the social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs of children with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities. An individual interview is required for each of these programs so that our professional team can welcome your child and assist in the selection of programs that would be most successful.

Special Services After School Program

This after school care program is for children with developmental disabilities ages 5-21. Groups meet daily after school under the direction of professionally supervised staff. New York City Board of Education transportation is provided from school to the Sam Field Center, and van transportation may be provided by the Sam Field Center to the child’s home at the end of the day.

School Holiday Program

Weekend Teen

A once monthly recreational program that meets on Sunday afternoons geared for high functioning and independent teens with developmental disabilities. Contact Giaclyn Cespe at [email protected]

Snapology: Building Commitment to End Bullying and Building Leadership

Tuesdays beg. November 5
6:00 – 7:00 pm
10 weeks for $175

Snapology creates an environment that encourages children to create and interact with materials and technology enabling them to explore solutions through hands-on “playful” learning.

Work Readiness Group

Tuesdays beg. November 5
5:00 – 6:00 pm
10 weeks for $300

This group helps participants gain appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities for success at work, focusing on professionalism, resume building, interpersonal and communication skills and more!

Let the Cooking Begin

Wednesdays beg. November 6
6:00 – 7:30 pm
10 weeks for $200

We provide cooking ingredients and materials, as well as guided curriculum that also focuses on social skills. This class promotes proper dining etiquette while teaching participants about recipes and skills through hands on learning.

Yoga

Thursdays beg. November 7
5:00 – 6:00 pm
10 weeks for $125

Participants improve concentration, learn breathing techniques, decrease stress and anxiety while promoting a healthy lifestyle!

Basketball Buddies

Thursdays beg. November 7
6:00 – 7:00 pm (ages 5-12)
7:00 – 8:00 pm (ages 13-21)
10 weeks for $125

Participants are paired with teen volunteers from local high schools who assist children in acquiring newly learned basketball and social skills. This program teaches good sportsmanship and team building while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
