Commonpoint Queens is proud to offer programs specifically designed to meet the social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs of children with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities. An individual interview is required for each of these programs so that our professional team can welcome your child and assist in the selection of programs that would be most successful.
Central Queens

Swimming
7 Sundays beginning July 9
Primary/Foundational Skills: 2:45-3:30pm, 3:30-4:15pm
Stroke Development/Level 3: 4:15-5:00pm, 5:00-5:45pm

Primary/foundational skills is a beginner class. Students will learn safety skills and water acclimation. Students will learn basic aquatics skills such as blowing bubbles, kicking and putting their faces in the water. Concepts are introduced through fun games and activities. A parent or support staff is required to join in the water with each child.
Stroke development/Level 3 is for children who have foundational swimming skills and are ready for technicalities of swimming. This course is for children who have done well in the beginner class, or have otherwise been assessed by the swim instructor to be ready for this level class. A parent or support staff is required to join in the water with each child.

Ongoing Spring Classes:
Karate
8 Sundays beginning April 16
3:30 – 4:30 pm (Ages 5-9)
4:30 – 5:30 pm (Ages 10-14)

Our Karate class helps children redirect their natural impulses toward aggression and channels them in constructive, helpful, and beneficial ways, while helping them learn about respect, focus, honor and discipline.
Fitness
8 Wednesdays beginning April 19
6:00-7:00pm
$150
This 1 hour class will teach your child specific basketball skills and social skills. This is a great way for children to socialize with their peers while learning social skills and sports each week.

Sam Field Center
Soccer Stars (Thursdays)
Participants will learn the skills and drills of the sport, learn good sportsmanship, and team building.
