We are excited to announce the opening of our Youth Sports and Dance classes for Winter from Monday, January 3 through Saturday, March 26, 2022! Our dynamic instructors will guide your child to reach their full potential through engaging and age-appropriate sports curriculum. Please register here beginning November 14 – space is limited!!

The Central Queens facility is located at 67-09 108th Street, Forest Hills, NY 11375. For all Central Queens dance classes, please drop off and pick up on the 4th Floor Dance Studio. Parents/Caregivers will be issued a blue card on the first day of class and will need to present the blue card in order to be allowed entrance to the building. Parents/Caregivers are not allowed to stay during class time.

The Sam Field Center Gymnasium is located at 58-20 Little Neck Pkwy, Little Neck NY 11362. For all Sam Field dance classes, please drop off and pick up at the front door. Parents/Caregivers are not allowed to stay in the gymnasium during class time.

All classes take place once a week and will be held indoors. For all dance classes, dress requirements will be communicated before the semester begins.

COVID-19 Policies and Procedures:

Our priority is the health and safety of our community. Commonpoint Queens follows the guidance provided by the New York State Department of Health, New York City Department of Health, CDC, and the New York City Department of Education. In compliance with our city governing agencies, we require all members, staff, instructors and class participants to wear masks while in shared places inside of our buildings. Shared spaces include our lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and main offices, as well as spaces that host our youth and older adult programs. All instructors and staff are fully vaccinated. Some class sizes may be limited to allow sufficient social distancing measures. If NYC guidelines require mandatory closure of our building during the Winter session, we will make all reasonable efforts to make-up missed classes by arranging an alternate date. If our schedule or space does not allow, then class credits based on our closure days will be issued to your Commonpoint Queens account.

Pricing:

9 Week class is $144 members / $180 non-members
10 Week class is $160 members / $200 non-members
11 Week class is $176 members / $220 non-members

Before the first class is held, 100% refund minus $20 administrative fee.
After the first class is held, 90% refund minus $20 administrative fee.
After 2nd class is held, a 50% refund minus $20 administrative fee.
No refunds or credits after the 3rd class is held.
Should you choose to take a Commonpoint Queens credit, the administrative fee will be waived. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

All registrations are completed online and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Winter Dance at Central Queens:

Dance – Contemporary Movements

(Ages 4–11)

This dance based class incorporates ballet, modern, and jazz techniques along with your child’s imagination.

5:00-5:45 p.m. (Ages 8-11)

Dance – Pre-Ballet and Ballet

(Ages 4–11)

The foundation of all dance. Body placement and alignment in ballet are the most important elements for every dancer in attaining balance, control, form, strength, and a beautiful line. Dancers will achieve this through barre and center floor work.

Leotard & tights with ballet slippers required, Ballet skirt and/or tutu is optional.

Dance – Zumba Kids/Hip-Hop

(Ages 4–11)

Ms. Jessica is back creating fun and motivating dances designed just for kids using the Zumba concept and hip-hop. Children learn fitness dances, play fun motivational games and learn new rhythms and styles of music and culture.

Dance – Hip-Hop/Tap

(Ages 4–7)

This class will introduce the basic steps of Hip-Hop and Tap to young beginner dancers. Students will work on their flexibility, sense of rhythm, body awareness, and overall coordination.

Dance – Hip-Hop/Jazz

(Ages 8–11)

This class is geared for beginners specifically focusing on developing rhythm and coordination while encouraging individual style. It infuses the funky style of hip hop with the technical side of jazz. Students will learn the fundamentals of each style such as isolations, strength, and flexibility.

Hip-Hop Dance

(Ages 4-11)

Ms. Dani will take you through easy to follow dance moves with fun music mixes. Through music and movement your child will increase their fitness level, strength, coordination and balance.
